Concept
A fly reel consists of moving parts. For these to work properly certain criteria’s must be fulfilled , otherwise there is a weak link in the chain. A ball bearing must be protected from dirt & water, crease can only be allowed inside. If this is not achieved a failure will occur, only a question of time.
We only use sealants & other components of highest industrial quality, nothing else. Combined with a solid design this creates a reel that can be trusted under all circumstances. We manufacture all parts to our reels in in Danielsson reel factory, there is no weak links.

Total water proofness
Water proofness is important, that has been confirmed with different tests. We build a water pressure chamber to simulate pressures up to 100 meters of water. By placing the reel inside for some hours we get the answer to the level of water proofness, no short cuts.

Another test involves placing the reel in a dish washer. Simulating splashes of hot water it might be considered as a unnecessary test, but it gives us proof on our quality.
These tests confirm that if we write that your reels are water proof, they are! We see that in the global reel industry people take very lightly on backing up their written words.
Danielsson Fly reel`s philosophy is always to back up what we say, we guarantee that. What we write, we do.

Constant drag
When designing a drag that keeps a set level of torque the drag material should not change dimension with temperature & pressure. If that happens, drag force will constantly keep changing. This is very irritating. There should also not be any grease applied because it affects the drag in a negative way.
After many test and research we have found a solution were we can use a dry drag. We have been using this drag design and material for many years, since 1998.
From 2009 we implement the latest in Danielsson drag design. We can now offer a new drag material that out performs the old one, use by many today.
This new material always keeps a constant and smooth drag torque. This will keep hooks in place and minimize tippets breaking. You can concentrate on having fun.
At the same time we introduce the D-VTCS in the F3W, L5W & H5D. A system that gives you the possibilities to configure the drag in up to 5 levels. You exactly get the reel that you want.

Ball bearings
In our sealed reels we use a spindle configuration, a superior design regarding to strength. Two ball bearing placed far away from each other, taking up high loads.
Between those bearings the drag unit is placed; a strong and compact unit sealed and protected (D-TES). This gives high reliability.

Smart drag adjustment
The drag knob on our reels are easy accessible with a firm grip, designed in such way that slack line will not hang up. Drag can quickly be set from min to max within 330 degrees, important during a fight. Min setting can easily be adjusted to suit your personal requirements.
Together with D-VTCS you always get exactly the reel that suits you. In this design D-FOPS ensures that you never overload the reel. A guaranty that you can take a fight to the end.

Spool with finesse
We have a spool system that has no loose parts. It’s very easy to change the spool and most important of all, you never need to worry that the spool will pop of during a fight. The D-SLS is a unique Danielsson Design that is extremely reliable.

Choice of material
The reels are made of high strength aluminum and stainless steel. Aluminium surfaces are protected with a thick anodized coating. This gives a salt waterproof design, lasting many years.

Summary
A Danielsson reel is designed I such way that material is concentrated in areas best needed. This ensures a light and strong product that will withstand many years of hard use. The reels have low rotating mass; this together with a high performance drag gives a reel that responds quickly to changes during a fight. This performance is guaranteed in every situation because of the 100% waterproofness.
So the next time you want a new flyreel, demand to test it in wet conditions. Drench the reel in water for some time, and then test it. We have no problems with these tests. Our reels are designed for professional use!
